Warlocks

In this post I have collected several examples of the presence of "bruixots" (sorcerers)-typically rated the witches in the territory of Maresme. Here you will find the most famous, or who had more impact.

• Ramon Polanyi, bruixot of Canyamars (legend / fact)

Despite not having too many stories about witches or magicians Catalunya, again found in the Maresme a unique character, which gives you even more mystery to stories about witchcraft and traditional folklore of the country. As we can imagine, even men who practiced magic or witchcraft were better views than their female counterparts, although their actions are socially unacceptable.

In Catalonia, and especially in the Maresme, witches were considered great artists of storms. From the smoke of a fire, warlocks where the storm had wanted. The only way to prevent storms from reaching the villages was the church bells.

Dosrius If, for example, we have the story of Ramon Polanyi, a wizard of Canamars, which according was able to summon the biggest storms in the area. • Antoni Puig, Torroella sorcerer (done)

This village confessed in 1603 that while working in Pineda de Mar, there appeared an devil in human form called ova, which promised wealth and prosperity if accompanied him. Furthermore, told him that with his help to become a doctor, and give wisdom to any plant medicines needed. All this in exchange for his soul. Thus came the oath of kisses, which so often told in folklore of witchcraft, and began a three-year commitment, during which Antonio Puig successfully practiced medicine until an accident happened, a child was killed by the warlock therapy prescribed.

After a long period of terror and anxiety, ova appeared again and invited Antoni to go somewhere where they do not bother: the Montnegre. Once there, Antoni said some sort of religious phrase wrongly, and everything disappeared. After the trance, the same Antoni was given to the Inquisition, so that any confession obtained without any kind of torture, and as punishment only had to serve 5 years in the local hospital.

• Other wizards:

The Sant basketmaker Iscle of Vallalta, it is said that rose on the back of a black dog the mountain and there he played the drum to call witches, who rose to hear the top.

Whitey was another master sorcerer of Arenys de Munt, who was also famous for invoking storms and tempests, and according to popular tradition, was one of the most powerful and famous in the area.
